What is Kitten Kindergarten?
Kitten Kindergarten is a socialization and training program designed to help get both kitten and owner off on the right “paw.” Up to around 12 weeks of age, kittens are at their most impressionable and easily sociable state.
To ensure your kitten develops properly both socially and behaviorally, it’s important to expose them to new people, things, and experiences during this stage. Socializing your kitten during this period will help them to grow into a well adjusted and confident cat.
What You Will Learn in Kitten Kindergarten
We will work on a variety of skills and learn about a range of topics, including:
- Kitten Info 101 (diet, cat behavior, litter boxes, scratching, enrichment, cat-proofing, etc)
- General handling
- Appropriate play
- Socializing with new people and other cats (no interactions are forced)
- Carrier training and stress-free car travel
- Acclimating to vet visits
- Brushing, nail trimming, and toothbrush training
- Basic behavior training (clicker training, harness training, etc)
We will progressively work through all these topics, and participants will have “homework” assignments each week to work on between class sessions.
Kitten Kindergarten Requirements
- Kittens must be 8-14 weeks old*
- You must obtain a signed health certificate from your veterinarian
- Kittens must be up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations
- Kittens must be negative for feline leukemia, fleas, and intestinal parasites
- Kittens must not have any signs of illness
- Humans must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by an adult
*Those with cats too old to attend may still audit the class without a kitten.

The following items are required and must be brought to each class session. They will also be used at home for your “homework” assignments. Specific recommendations can be supplied upon request.
- Enclosed car carrier
- Cat Brush
- Cat Nail clippers
- Cat Toothbrush
- Clicker
- Harness + Leash
Class Details
Kitten Kindergarten takes place once per week for 4 weeks and takes place at my home. Participation is limited to 6 kittens. The investment to participate is $100.
